If you are in a relationship but not quite ready to enter into a legal marriage at this stage (perhaps with a divorce pending, or family members are overseas), then consider having a Commitment Ceremony.
Whilst there is no legal component to a commitment ceremony, there are still many ways that you can demonstrate your love, affection and commitment to each other. The ceremony can follow a more traditional format, with an order of ceremony and exchange of vows similar to a wedding. Or you can write your own ceremony, incorporating symbols and rituals that are special to you both. Or, of course, you can have some combination of the wo!.
Symbols and rituals that you may wish to consider include:
Stories of your time and relationship together
Music and song
Reading and Poems
Vows or words of commitment to each other
Rituals such as an exchange of rings, the unity candle, a flower or roses ceremony, or a ribbon ceremony.
